INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT EXPRIENCE UNDERTAKEN AT NYOTA TV/ FM FOR A PERIOD OF TWO MONTH AS FROM 5TH FEBRUARY TO 5TH APRIL 2023.

Nyota Tv / FM 107.3 are privately owned stations established and based in Bungoma Town, Milimani Estate. It transmits and offers services throughout the western region, Nyanza, Riftvalley , coast of Kenya and Eastern parts of Uganda.

First and foremost I want to thank the Almighty God for bringing me these far  and keeping me safe and sound with good life during my entire period of attachment. I would like to laud Mr. Fred Harrison Wesonga the station manager for giving me the opportunity to do Industrial attachment with the organization. It was a unique experience to be in.

I also extend my gratitude to my lectures of department Journalism and mass communication for giving me this chance to exercise my skills in my professional field. And my parents unrelating moral and financial support.

My attachment was based on TV and Radio which are the main focus in Journalism. I was placed in different departments, Newsroom where I was taught on how to translate news from English to Kiswahili, I was taught on how to write radio scripts. My first week was kinda hard because the editor kept on rejecting my work for two weeks until I was on the right track, I felt she didn't like me but after giving it a try I became positive with her attitude, it really helped me.

The forth week I went field work, I t was not easy because I didn't have press card so talking to people was hard. Some couldn't allow you to take voicepox because they felt their voices would be used to do illegal things, and at the end of the day you I was supposed to go back with news, edit and voice. Am glad I was able to work it through.

From there I was privileged to shadow a radio Program Nyota Ajira from 10: 00 am to 1: 00 pm hosted by Lydia Nakhami. She was such a darling, was friendly and easy to talk to. She taught me studio operation and the equipments. I also joined the production team  and was taught news editing which was also not easy putting lower thirds after editing. The last two weeks I did camera work and was also allowed to set camera for lunch news.

Am forever grateful for the Nyota Team, they were the best and each of them was ready to help out and also friendly.  It was a great opportunity and I learnt alot not only in my field but also how to stay with people different  of caliber. I will forever cherish.
